With no selection, the color starts at the cursorRGB and gradients require Java 1.16+ plus a server, plugin or proxy with RGB MOTD support. For older clients, use the 16-color fallback; ViaBackwards may downsample colors depending on your setup.

A URL is downloaded when the server starts. The Java configurator keeps an existing file path unchanged.

Keep every important word visible
Minecraft gives the MOTD two lines. The width indicator warns you before a long or bold message is cut off.
Choose colors that work for your players
The 16 standard colors work with every version. Full RGB colors require Java 1.16+ plus a server, plugin or proxy that supports RGB MOTDs.
Download the right icon the first time
Position your image, check it at its real in-game size and download the finished 64 × 64 server-icon.png.
