For Minecraft Java

Create a Minecraft MOTD and server icon

Design the entry players see in their server list: two clear lines, the right colors and a crisp icon.

Your server message

Tell players why your server is worth joining. Select important words, then add color or style.

51 visible characters

Characters beginning with § store color and style. They are needed when you copy, but take up no space in the server list.

16 colors · work on every version

With no selection, the color starts at the cursor

RGB and gradients require Java 1.16+ plus a server, plugin or proxy with RGB MOTD support. For older clients, use the 16-color fallback; ViaBackwards may downsample colors depending on your setup.

Your server icon

Use an image URL or crop your own image to Minecraft's required 64 × 64 pixels.

A URL is downloaded when the server starts. The Java configurator keeps an existing file path unchanged.

PNG, JPEG or WebP · up to 5 MB · processed only in your browser

Minecraft uses a square 64 × 64 pixel PNG named server-icon.png. You get exactly that size, and your image is never uploaded.

View it with your server detailsOptional: add your name, player counts and latency so the preview matches your real server.+

Check before you restart

Know what players will see before you restart

Spot long lines, unsuitable colors and blurry icons before your players see them.

01

Keep every important word visible

Minecraft gives the MOTD two lines. The width indicator warns you before a long or bold message is cut off.

02

Choose colors that work for your players

The 16 standard colors work with every version. Full RGB colors require Java 1.16+ plus a server, plugin or proxy that supports RGB MOTDs.

03

Download the right icon the first time

Position your image, check it at its real in-game size and download the finished 64 × 64 server-icon.png.
